Liberty is pleased to announce that Mark Murray has been appointed President, New York Gas, effective June 17. Murray replaces Mark Saltsman, who has been a vital member of the New York Gas team since 2017 and is retiring.

Murray comes to the North Country from Liberty’s New Brunswick Gas operation, where he served in several leadership roles since 2011, including Manager of Marketing, Sales & Communications, Director of Business Development, and most recently Director of Operations. Prior to joining Liberty, Mark held management roles at Enbridge Gas Distribution, British American Tobacco, and Irving Oil. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Fredericton.

“Mark Murray brings extensive experience to his new role and will build upon the strong foundation laid by his predecessor,” said Vincent Gaeto, Liberty’s President, East Region. “Mark Saltsman was an instrumental member of our leadership team and a true visionary in our industry and will be missed; however, he has prepared our New York Gas team well to be successful under a new President.”

Saltsman led New York Gas to venture into renewable energy and just this week the team announced a state-of-the-art hydrogen pilot program under Saltsman’s leadership. He was also an integral member of the community, giving back in various ways, including serving on the Board of the Massena Hospital Foundation and joining his team to volunteer at many local events.  He said he values the time and contributions he made to Liberty and its customers and feels confident that the future of Liberty New York Gas is bright.

“Knowing that I’m leaving the team in the capable hands of Mark Murray makes retirement even more exciting,” Saltsman said. “Mark is just the right person to lead us into the future of natural gas in a decarbonized world.”

“I would like to congratulate Mark Saltsman on his retirement and for his exceptional leadership during his tenure at New York Gas,” said Murray. “I am excited to join the team, especially during a time when natural gas will play such an important role in our energy future.”
